Lagom Townhouse

Whilst everyone’s ‘just right’ might be different, we believe our Lagom room ticks all the boxes for simple luxuries when you visit Kenmare.

Lagom Townhouse is located in the centre of Kenmare allowing you easy access to everything the town has to offer, but only a short walk back to your accommodation where you can relax with coffee or tea in your room and “fika” (on arrival) before getting ready for your evening out or your evening in, resting before another day of exploring this beautiful part of Kerry.

Our compact and cosy rooms are individually named and decorated with tones and fabrics in keeping with the ‘Lagom’ theme of ‘not too much, not too little, just right,’ acknowledging the natural beauty that surrounds us in Kenmare.

The Townhouse was originally set up to accommodate our dinner guests so it is not a hotel in the conventional sense. We don’t have a reception or communal areas. All rooms are accessed via stairs. Since opening in 2021 we are delighted to have become a welcoming resting place for guests who want to relax after a hike on the Kerry Way or Beara Way, and guests discovering the welcome Kenmare offers over a few nights of staying in the town.

We offer check-in to the townhouse from 3pm on the day of arrival, please get in touch to let us know your time of arrival so we can meet you for check-in access and key collection. The very latest time for check-in is 9pm.

The townhouse is suitable for all guests over the age of 16 years.

If you can manage it, it’s a good idea to book a room in Lagom — for two reasons. First, with dinner to look forward to you need only walk downstairs to enjoy Brendan Byrne’s meticulous cooking, and Byrne is cooking some of the best food in the Kingdom. Second, breakfast in Lagom is one of the best in Ireland, and one of the most original: the kitchen makes a corned beef brisket hash with fried eggs and house hot sauce that is the best start to the day you will find. That breakfast should get just as much attention as dinner shows just how meticulous Byrne and his wife, Liz, are: every detail in Lagom is expertly curated, and Byrne’s skill with wood fire cooking means the flavours at dinner are sublime. Value for money is exceptional and Lagom is one of the very best examples of the Irish restaurant with rooms.
